Session 2: Life of a Doctor: Medical Case I
Session 3: Medical School Preparation I
Optional Session: College preparation
- Describe the mission and goals.
- Learn about the students’ interest and purpose of joining the program.
- Discuss the concept of triage and seeing multiple patients at same time.
- Ask to fill Pre-survey (member page)
Session 2: Life of a Doctor: Medical Case I
- Discuss a mock medical case.
- Introduce students into the process of diagnosis and learning about medical tools.
- Learn about common medical disease and prevention.
Session 3: Medical School Preparation I
- Learn about the pathway toward medical school.
- The importance of focus and discipline.
- The benefit of medical education.
- Session will include medical panel of medical students and physicians.
Optional Session: College preparation
- Medical students can offer to revise college (for high school students) or medical school (for college students) personal statement
- Provide tips on college or medical school application process
- Host a session to bring medical students to edit final versions of personal statements.
Spring Semester
Session 4: Life of a Doctor: Emergency Room II
Session 5: Careers in Medicine
Session 6: Life of a Doctor: Medical Case II + Graduation
Optional Session: Experiences in Medicine II
- Discuss a set of medical emergencies and how to triage them.
- Learn about the process of diagnosing medical problems in ER setting.
Session 5: Careers in Medicine
- Expose members to various careers in medicine.
- Learn about new trends in medicine.
- Session will include speaker from the medical field.
Session 6: Life of a Doctor: Medical Case II + Graduation
- Discuss a mock medical case.
- Introduce students into the process of diagnosis and learning about medical tools.
- Students will be awarded a certificate of completing the program after minimum of 6 sessions.
- Ask to fill post-survey (member page)
Optional Session: Experiences in Medicine II
- YPI students (fellows) who complete graduation survey will be eligible for clinical opportunities.
- Our clinical partners provide experiences for selected and approved YPI students.
